SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS

How about this? You can invite all your friends that have similar needs and brainstorm ideas.

Ideas for Activities

Share your idea with friends at your church and school, as well as acquaintances in the plaza/park/corner.

Tell those that don’t have plans to go to a summer camp that you’re planning to host your own summer camp this year.

Then ask them to collaborate with you. Say you want them to come up with creative ideas about things to do for the summer.

Make a Plan

If someone has a bigger backyard, arrange to use theirs. Better yet, you could arrange to take turns, depending on the availability of venues.

Why not make it into a contest?

You could then dangle a small prize before each participant as an incentive!

Are there extra persons around?

Maybe you could invite them to join! Teach what you learned from step 1 for a host of summer holiday activities that enable you to polish off your talents and have fun while doing so.

THINGS TO DO

  1. Camp backyard cookout
  2. Sewing/arts and crafts day(s)
  3. Storytelling nights
  4. Camp sing along (nursery rhymes/gospel//pop/folk songs)
  5. Games day (ball/board/nursery/ring)
  6. Cultural day- visit a tourist attraction in your area
  7. Do an activity based on it next day
  8. Movie day/night
  9. Beach /nature/hiking day

10. Visit friends or relatives in the country or abroad

How to do this summer activity ?

Identify a relative, using your own knowledge or ask your parents; make contact; obtain the invitation(s); make suitable plans for transportation, etc. (If abroad, visas, airfares and other associated costs must be considered)

BENEFITS OF A VISIT TO RELATIVES

  1. Learning about the culture and traditions of others
  2. Learning how to live with others and fitting into other places  (diplomacy)
  3. Having fun while accepting the hospitality of others in an open and pleasant way
  4. Learning how to ‘give back’ by accepting your share of the responsibilities of your hosts
  5. Learning how to plan and execute such visits, so there is the possibility of doing it again in other contexts

IN CONCLUSION

Summer activities for children and young people of all ages include going to some kind of summer camp. However, for those who are unable to attend camp, but would like to participate in summer activities, it is possible to plan and execute your own. These cater to but are not limited to recreational activities. In fact, while you plan and carry out your own summer activities, these could lay the basis for having the necessary funds that will guarantee you the opportunity to have even bigger and better summer activities for next year and the years to come.
